Description
:
Pfizer, Inc. is a global pharmaceutical company. Pfizer
wanted to consolidate corporate aviation operations (jets and helicopters) at the Trenton/Mercer Airport, West Trenton, NJ. Construction was underway when problems arose. Pfizer / Rodgers Construction Consultants engaged CRESG to assist with project management. What appeared to be a simple metal building was actually a three sided, boomerang shaped 80K SF custom metal building including three (3) 200’ – 300’ Mega Truss structures to support MegaDoors for airplane access to accommodate up to a Boeing 737 aircraft. A smaller stick build office building was attached to the front of the larger hanger building for office space.
Some of the metal building components did not fit and they were “jury-rigged” to keep the project moving. Eventually, the parties realized the building could collapse when a hurricane threatened the area. CRESG found a hostile, warring jobsite on arrival. CRESG helped the parties document the extent of the problems, design and implement necessary repairs and corrections, inspect and accept those corrections and eventually complete a beautiful new facility.
